Revolutionary user interface

iPhone

The tech news of the day was dominated by Apple’s release of the iPhone. Coverage has primarily focused on the convergence of the iPod, the mobile phone and the Internet. However, I was struck by how Steve Jobs introduced the product and focused on the “revolutionary user interface.” At the heart of each of Apple’s breakthrough product innovations, the Macintosh, iPod and now the iPhone was a revolutionary user interface. The Macintosh had the mouse, the iPod featured the clickwheel, and the iPhone features Multitouch technology. It wasn’t the features or technology that made any of these products great, but the way users interfaced with the technology.

The Centre would also like to use the iPhone in all of our presentations on user-centered design, so if anyone from Apple is reading this, could you please forward along three samples? Thanks.
